The Ice Village 2020 on the Square of 1905 will be solemnly opened on December 27 and will work until January 27.
The main theme of the Village is “200 Years of the Discovery of Antarctica by Russian Sailors”. The Square of 1905 will turn into the North Pole. A whale ice slide, penguin figures up to eight meters high will be installed on the territory, part of the passages on the Square will be shaped as the shape of icebergs, a sailboat on which the First Russian Antarctic expedition led by Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev discovered Antarctica in 1820. Also on the territory of the Village will be installed information stands with a description of the feat of Russian researchers and the history of the discovery of the mainland. Separately, meetings will be organized with participants in modern expeditions to the Antarctic in the format of public talk. The traditional events of the New Year's holiday will be the Christmas market and various attractions held during the work of the Village.
